Afrisa Wyvonne Gardner is a 7th generation Oklahoman. Born and raised in Chickasha/Lawton, OK, Afrisa spent many days growing up with extended family and listening to the stories of her elders. Afrisa graduated from Lawton High School with honors in 1998.
Afrisa continued her education at the Univ. of Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood in 2003. She accepted a Kindergarten position with Lawton Public Schools in the spring of 2004. She then received her Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2006. Afrisa spent 14 years in the classroom teaching PreK, K and 1st before moving to Houston, TX with her family in 2018. With two young children, Afrisa decided to leave the classroom and devote her time to her family while writing curriculum for Recess and Results, Inc. and teaching private PreK recess classes. Afrisa is married to Brian Gardner and they have two children, Alice (10) and Alexander (7). In addition to being an author she is also currently the VP of the school PTA and an assistant teacher at UBC Weekday program.
Eugenia is a military "brat" with both parents having served in the United States Army. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany and lived in a rural village where she was immersed in the German culture. As a child she lived in Kansas, Virgina, and Oklahoma. She graduated from MacArthur High in Lawton, Ok in 1997. Instead of pursuing college right away, she moved to Los Angeles, CA where she had the opportunity to work for a major record label and indulge her creative side. Eugenia's passion for music led her to move to Lafayette, LA In 2009 with her daughter Victoria. Eugenia's love for psychology grew while in Lafayette and she worked in several areas of mental health while she decided what areas of psychology she wanted to pursue. She graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a Bachelor's in Psychology with a dual specialization in child and adolescent development and forensics. She is currently completing her Master's in Applied Psychology with a specialization in Forensics.
Eugenia loves to travel and most recently visited Johannesburg, South Africa on a study abroad program which led her to creating a research project that addresses a global concern in psychology. Eugenia married her husband John in 2013 and together they have 3 girls. Victoria (24) who has a Master's in Music Business Entertainment, Tyraysha (22) who drives OTR with her dad, and Janiya (20) who is in her junior year at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
In addition to being an author, Eugenia owns the only 24-hour childcare center in her city, she speaks German and is learning isiZulu, and she is a classically trained vocalist and pianist and just started to learn the violin.
